Deputy sheriffs responded Feb. 29 to a report of a burglar alarm at a liquor store on Fairfield Drive in the Putnam Lake section of the Town of Patterson, police report. Upon arrival, it was determined someone had used a rock to break the glass to the front door of the business; the suspect apparently fled the scene when the alarm sounded, according to officials. Magnet School In Norwalk Awarded Grant From Audubon Connecticut NORWALK, Conn. -- Columbus Magnet School has been awarded a Schoolyard Habitat Grant from Audubon Connecticut, the first time the honor has been given to any school in Norwalk. As a recipient of the award, the magnet school will now work with staff from Audubon Connecticut and Audubon Greenwich in creating a native habitat to support migratory songbirds, along with an outdoor classroom. Monroe Library Hosts Pendant Craft Event For Teens MONROE, Conn. -- The Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 733 Monroe Turnpike, is hosting its latest teen crafts event on Wednesday, April 6, from 4 to 5 p.m. The workshop will allow participants to make clay pendants embossed with stamps and decorated with paint. Norwalk Holding Forum On Avoiding Scams NORWALK, Conn. -- Mayor Harry Rilling will host a forum on preventing scams on Saturday, April 2, at 10 a.m. in the community room at City Hall. The event will feature Consumer Protection Commissioner Jonathan A. Harris, who will talk with area residents about preventing fraud, and address any consumer issues they may have. Representatives of Direct Energy Solar will also be on hand, encouraging Norwalk property owners to consider using solar power.
