Ridgewood Organizes Forum On Tap Water Quality RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Richard Calbi, director of Ridgewood Water, will be hosting a forum on tap water quality with the Ridgewood A.M. Rotary Club, on Thursday, May 19, at 7:30 a.m. at the rotary club’s new location, Roots Steakhouse, 17 Chestnut St. Topics addressed during the forum will include the quality of local tap water, levels of lead and the issue of whether towns should impose proactive water restrictions or leave the matter for the utilities to decide. The event is open to the public.

Wilton Man Charged With Lying On Gun Permit Application WILTON, Conn. -- Wilton police have arrested a 52-year-old resident of Wilton who allegedly failed to disclose accurate information when he applied for a Connecticut pistol permit. James Kennedy has been charged with providing a false statement in the second degree, police said. He is due in court Monday, May 23.

Ramapo Police Charge Man For Driving With Suspended License, No Insurance RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police have charged a 38-year-old motorist with driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped a vehicle for traveling more than 20 miles per hour over the posted speed limit throughout various roads in the Monsey area on Thursday about 7:15 a.m., according to officials. The motorist told the officer that he couldn’t find his license. The local resident was subsequently arrested and charged with operating with a suspended license, unreasonable speed and operating without producing proof of valid insurance, police report. Mom's Morning In Visiting Darien's Noroton Fire Department DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Community Association’s Mom’s Morning In program is visiting the Noroton Fire Department, 1873 Post Road, on Friday, May 20, at 10 a.m. The interactive event will give kids the chance to climb on the fire trucks, watch the ladders go up and ring the bell. Eastchester Police Warn Public Of Phone Scam Targeting Con Edison Users EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Eastchester Police Department and Con Edison are warning the public of a series of scam calls claiming to be from Con Ed. During the scam, the caller threatens a service turnoff unless the customer purchases a pre-paid card or arranges for a transfer via MoneyGram to pay a bill, officials report. The company has seen a recent a spike in reports from customers who were contacted by the scammers. Complaints have come from both residential and business customers. Two Yorktown Men Charged With Criminal Possession Of Controlled Substance YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have charged two residents of Yorktown Heights with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Officers responded to the area of Ivy Knolls Park after receiving a complaint from a local resident reporting possible drug activity within the park on Tuesday, May 10, at approximately 5:17 p.m., police report.
