Danbury Rep. Smith Honors Veterans At State Capitol DANBURY, Conn. -- State Rep. Richard A. Smith (R-108) recently introduced four veterans from the greater Danbury area to the state House of Representatives. Those recognized included Bethel's Dan Giata of the Marine Corps, Joe Schirmer of the Army and Tom Cummings of the Navy. Additionally, Louis Russo, a World War II veteran, was credited for his service in the Pacific Theater of operations. Russo was also recognized for his upcoming 98th birthday, which will occur in August. Smith represents Danbury, New Fairfield, Sherman and New Milford.

Woman Charged With Stealing From Taconic Pharmacy YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 38-year-old resident of Mahopac on a larceny charge. An officer responded to a report of a past larceny at the Taconic Pharmacy at Lee Road on Thursday, April 21, at approximately 5:30 p.m., police report. An investigation at the scene revealed that the suspect, identified as Dawn M. Variara, allegedly stole merchandise valued at $12.59 from the store, according to officials.
