Westport Main Street Shoppers Have Valet Option For Holidays
WESTPORT, Conn. -- Holiday shoppers in downtown Westport's Main Street area now have the option of parking valet on the weekends through a temporary service that starts Black Friday and runs through Christmas Eve. The Westport Board of Selectmen agreed Wednesday to the holiday service offered by Valet Park of America. NEW ROCHELLE, N. Y. -- Marino, a New York communications firm founded by a Westchester native and former aide to New York City Mayor Ed Koch, has been selected by New Rochelle city officials to help promote economic development in New Rochelle, city officials announced. Allendale Firefighters Collect Toys For Tots
ALLENDALE, N.J. -- Members of the Allendale Volunteer Fire Department are again collecting toy donations for the annual Toys for Tots effort to provide for less fortunate local children. The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots truck is out in front of the Allendale fire station, 1 Erie Plaza, through Friday, Dec. 16, to accept donations. Police Search For Suspects Prompts School Alert In Poughkeepsie
POUGHKEEPSIE, N. Y. -- A Monday morning police pursuit of suspects in a stolen car case prompted a temporary school alert at four City of Poughkeepsie schools, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal. The stolen car was spotted at about 8:30 a.m. on Grubb Street. Officers used a K-9 unit to help find the suspects, but to no avail, The Poughkeepsie Journal reports. One Person Injured After Fire Destroys Boat At Haverstraw Marina
HAVERSTRAW, N. Y. -- One person suffered burns after an early morning fire Monday destroyed a 40-foot power boat and damaged the dock at the Haverstraw Marina in Haverstraw, News 12 Westchester reports. Hyde Park Man Surrenders After Brandishing Knife At Police
HYDE PARK, N. Y. -- A 41-year-old Hyde Park man is in custody after a two-hour standoff Sunday with police from several area departments, during which time he threatened officers with a knife, threw objects at officers and barricaded himself in a house on Watertower Road in Hyde Park, police said.
