Town Of Corltandt Purchases Property From Con Edison CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- The Town of Cortlandt finalized a deal to purchase 100 acres of land in the hamlet of Verplanck from Consolidated Edison for $2.75 million dollars on Tuesday, according to Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi. The deal comes a year after the Town Board’s unanimous vote to make the acquisition. The stretch of land, which is adjacent to the Hudson River, is already the location of a sports field and a small beach area. Orangetown Police Charge Motorist With Multiple Offenses ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Orangetown police have arrested a resident of Haverstraw on multiple traffic and motor vehicle offenses following an incident in Blauvelt. The arrest came about after a motor vehicle stop for illegally-tinted windows, according to officials. During the stop, the investigating officer found that the suspect, identified as Luis Fermin-Urena, was operating the vehicle with a suspended registration, without insurance and without a valid New York State driver’s license, police report. Peekskill Woman Charged In Theft From Jefferson Valley Mall In Yorktown YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 59-year-old resident of Peekskill on a larceny charge after an incident at Sears in the Jefferson Valley Mall.Police were dispatched to the store, 600 Lee Blvd., following a report of a shoplifter in custody at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, according to officials. Greenwich Road To Be Closed Four Months For Bridge Construction Project GREENWICH, Conn. -- Construction will begin on the Brookridge Drive Bridge superstructure replacement project on Monday, July 11.
