Westport Opens Cooling Centers To Combat Weekend's Heat WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Town of Westport has a number of ways for local residents to find relief from the summer heat this weekend. Human Services Director Sarah Heath has announced that the Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave., will be open to the public as an officially designated “cooling center” on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, contact the center at 203-341-5099. Westport Teen Charged With Striking Female Victims In Face WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport police charged an 18-year-old town man with disorderly conduct and risk of injury to children after an incident at a local residence, police said. The arrest came about when officers responded to a Saugatuck Avenue home on a report of a disturbance Thursday about 6 p.m., police report. Officers determined that the suspect, identified as Ricardo Rivera, had assaulted two females in the home, then fled the scene, police said. Ramapo Police Charge Suffern Man With DWI RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police arrested a 42-year-old man from Suffern on a DWI charge Wednesday. The arrest came about when an officer stopped a vehicle for a defective headlight and erratic driving on Route 17 South, near the New York State Thruway entrance, according to officials. The driver, who had a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit, was subsequently arrested for DWI, police report. Yorktown Teen Charged With Robbery Following Home Invasion, Police Say YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 16-year-old resident of Yorktown as a juvenile offender on a robbery charge, authorities said. The arrest stemmed from the report of a home invasion that took place Oct. 21, about 11:31 p.m., according to officials. A woman told police she had been robbed at gunpoint by three males during the incident, police report. Following an extensive investigation, the victim identified Frank J.
