Man Busted After Bridgeport Domestic Assault Sentenced For Gun Possession
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A resident of Seymour was sentenced to 42 months in prison Wednesday on an illegal gun possession charge stemming from his arrest for assaulting his girlfriend in Bridgeport, authorities said.
Maurice Earley, 50, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny in Hartford to 42 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Deirdre M. Daly, U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut.

State Conservationist Discusses Bear Population At Monroe Library
MONROE, Conn. -- The Edith Wheeler Memorial Library is hosting “The Bear Reality,” a discussion of the bear population, on Tuesday, May 17, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Felicia Ortner, a Connecticut wildlife conservationist, will talk about the resurgence of the animals, which were once extinct in the state.

Riverfield School PTA Holding Spring Carnival In Fairfield
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Riverfield Elementary School PTA is hosting its spring carnival on Friday, May 6, from 6 to 9 p.m, and on Saturday, May 7, from 2 to 9 p.m.
The fundraiser will be held on the school property behind the building located at 1625 Mill Plain Road.
The event will include rides for all ages provided by the Rainbow Amusement Company, along with food by Carl Anthony’s Pizza, The Buzz Truck, Snappy Dawgs, and Paula’s Ice Cream.
The carnival supports children’s programs, educational field trips and author visits.
