Veteran Fire Inspector Named Bridgeport Fire Marshal BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Mayor Joe Ganim has announced his appointment of veteran fire inspector Henry Polite as Bridgeport’s next fire marshal. Polite is a 28 year-veteran of the Bridgeport Fire Department, and has served as a senior inspector in the fire marshal’s division since 2010. Dutchess County Sherrif's Office Commemorates Memorial Day With Ceremony POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Members of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office will gather at the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for a Memorial Day observance. Members of both the law enforcement and corrections divisions will be in full dress uniform for the ceremony. The event will honor law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, along with former members who have died. Ramapo Police Arrest Monsey Man On Marijuana Possession Charges RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police have charged a 19-year-old resident of Monsey with possession of marijuana. An officer on a routine patrol observed a man smoking what smelled like a marijuana cigarette on Route 306 in the Viola section of the town on Saturday about 6:25 p.m., police report. The officer stopped the man and began an investigation, leading to the man’s arrest, according to officials. 'Click It Or Ticket' Seat Belt Campaign Under Way In New Canaan NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The New Canaan Police Department is once again participating in the statewide high visibility seat belt enforcement campaign "Click it or Ticket." The seat belt campaign to promote safe driving and increase protection for motorists began Monday and continues through Sunday, June 5. New Canaan officers will be out enforcing the state occupant protection laws and issuing citations to those who are unbuckled. The officers and staff of the New Canaan Police Department extended their wishes to the community for a safe Memorial Day weekend.

Putnam Sheriff Charges Mahopac Woman With Providing False Information CARMEL, N.Y. -- Investigators from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department have charged a 53-year-old Mahopac woman with a pair of misdemeanors after she allegedly provided false information about a case, authorities said.
