Police were called at around 10:40 a.m. Monday, March 6, with reports of an attempted robbery at a Chase Bank in Bay Shore, located on East Main Street, according to Suffolk County Police. Detectives said 58-year-old Donald Klapak, who is homeless, entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding cash. The note also indicated that Klapak had a bomb. Man Dies In Fall From Pedestrian Bridge In Capital Region A man died after falling from a pedestrian bridge near the state Capitol, authorities confirmed. Emergency crews in Albany were called shortly before noon on Sunday, March 5, with reports of an unresponsive man at the Empire State Plaza, according to State Police. Investigators said the “despondent” Albany man fell approximately 45 feet from an elevated walkway over Madison Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers did not release the man’s name.
