Captain Joseph Nicholas Turi, of West Milford, formerly of Hillsdale, died on March 9 of accidental boating injuries. He was 50. A graduate of Pascack Valley High School, he began his nautical career by serving in the United States Coast Guard from 1992 to 2000 and went on to continue a career in the marine industry in New York Harbor. Party's Over: Wayne Banquet Hall Shutters Without Warning
WAYNE, N.J. -- A popular catering boutique has suddenly closed leaving people to wonder about deposits made for future party dates, News12NJ reports. The Paris Inn on Alps Road didn't open for business on Saturday, the station said. Owner Antonio Petritsis told the station the decision to close the 50-year-old business was due to personal reasons. The owner of The Village Inn located on Runnymede Drive told Daily Voice he spoke to Petritsis and they are working together to get parties covered. Rutgers Makes NJ's 1st Offer To DePaul Quarterback
WAYNE, N.J. -- A sophomore quarterback at DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne received an official offer to play football at Rutgers University. Taquan Roberson picked up his offer on Thursday during a personal visit to the New Brunswick campus, Scout Recruiting reports. The offer marks the first for DePaul's Class of 2019 and is the first Rutgers has made in 2017. This visit to Rutgers wasn't Roberson's first trip to the school and he plans to return again in the spring. Boston, Michigan and Temple all have also shown interest in the 6-foot 1-inch, 185-pounder from Orange.

Students March On Clifton City Hall Over State Funding
CLIFTON, N.J. -- Students marched down Colfax Avenue toward Clifton City Hall on Wednesday in protest of the state's school funding formula, multiple news outlets reported. Clifton lost $50 million in aid this year and Clifton dad Joe Canova started an online petition in February blaming New Jersey's unfair distribution of aid, pix11.com reports. CLIFTON, N.J. -- The nightmare began for Anna Buzzie of Clifton when her life was saved on Memorial Day. She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer after a friend found her unconscious and bleeding on the bathroom floor and called 911. TOTOWA, N.J. -- Lou Duva of Paterson and Totowa died Wednesday, March 8. He was 94. The boxing hall of famer was part of the Main Events family, which was founded by his son in 1978.
