Hudson County Sheriff’s Lt. Richard Garcia Dies After 24 Years Of Service
The Hudson County law enforcement community is mourning the sudden loss of one of its most respected leaders.
Lt. Richard Garcia died Monday, June 16, due to health-related complications, the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Lt. Garcia was in his 24th year of service and was known across the department for his professionalism, leadership, and loyalty to the people of Hudson County, the department said.

A dangerous combination of extreme heat and severe weather will hit New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania starting Wednesday, June 18, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Heat Advisory for much of the region, including Trenton, Flemington, Toms River, and Philadelphia, starting Wednesday and continuing into Thursday.

Man Beat Husky With Saw Blade After It Got Loose From Car In Franklin Twp: Cops
A man is facing a long list of charges after he was caught on camera brutally beating a dog in Somerset County, then fleeing police during a wild pursuit, authorities said.
Dennis Storey, 62, of Perth Amboy, was arrested Tuesday, June 10, and is being held in the Morris County Jail, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said. On Monday, June 16, a judge ordered him detained pending trial.
The alleged incident happened Saturday, June 7, around 7:18 p.m., when Franklin Township Police received a 9-1-1 call about an act of animal cruelty near Somerset Street, McDonald said.
