Scotland Pedestrian Crash Kills Globally Renowned Philadelphia Doctor, Princeton Librarian
A doctor from Philadelphia who has been working as a librarian at Princeton University but known globally for his scholarly work has died following a pedestrian crash in Scotland.
William Noel, 58, was struck by a Citroen Relay van in the evening hours of Wednesday, April 10 in Edinburgh, police in Scotland said. He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he died of his injuries on Monday, April 29, police said.
The driver of the van, a 40-year-old man, was arrested and released pending further enquiries.

A man accused of raping a girl in Pennsylvania who was arrested in Texas has finally been extradited for his trial, police announced on Monday, May 6.
Carlos Martinez-Franco was arrested on a warrant in Conroe, TX on March 4, 2024, according to the police release.
The charge stems from an alleged assault in the 200 block of East Liberty Street/US Route 11 in Chambersburg on July 12, 2016, court records show.

Another Homeless Peeper Busted In Arlington, Police Say
Yet another peeper has been arrested in Arlington.
Residents of a 17th Street home were inside when they spotted Christopher Sails, 40, outside on May 6 around 2 a.m., police said, The residents said Sails was peeping inside of their home on March 27.
Responding officers found a man matching the description given by the residents, and identified Sails as the suspect. He was charged with peeing and held without bond.

Five suspects, including a 17-year-old, were arrested in connection with a commercial burglary on Long Island.
The break-in happened at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, May 5, in Bayport at Moe’s Sweet Air, located on Bernice Drive near Montauk Highway.

An Atlantic City man was accused of locking his ex-girlfriend in an apartment's crawl space, authorities said.

A Queens man has been arrested after police said he stole cooking oil from multiple businesses on Long Island.
Rabindra Singh, age 47, was nabbed in connection to a series of cooking oil thefts, the Nassau County Police announced on Monday, May 6.
His arrest comes after Singh, who is from Queens, allegedly was caught at Frantoni’s Pizzeria, located at 1928 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, using a power pump and blue hose to siphon cooking oil into his 2012 Ford Econoline van.
