Local Traffic Unaffected By Saw Mill, Thruway Work

ARDSLEY, N.Y. – Local roads didn't see any increase in congestion Thursday while traffic on the Saw Mill River Parkway was reduced to one lane to allow officials to inspect the Ashford Avenue Bridge.

Officials called for an inspection after pieces of concrete fell from the bridge last Friday. The Saw Mill Parkway was reduced to one lane in each direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between the Ashford Avenue and Lawrence Street exits; it is scheduled to be closed during the same hours Friday.

“We didn't see any spillover effect here,” said Dobbs Ferry Sgt. Vincent Ingani. “For having lanes closed, it wasn't that bad.”

Just as Dobbs Ferry police had no incidents related to the closure, Ardsley and Hastings had a quiet day as well. Ardsley police said they didn't see any back-ups and had no reports of incidents related to the closures.

Hastings police also had no incidents to report and Sgt. John DeBlasio said there were no traffic issues or increased congestion.
